RewindNote for Android
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what stays on your device, what happens when you export a backup, and what Google advertising services may process.
1. Notes stored on your device
Note titles, note text, checklists, version history, pinned state, settings, and Trash items are stored in RewindNote's local app database on your Android device. RewindNote does not require an account and does not provide cloud synchronization in this version. Dev Jang does not operate a server that receives or stores your note content.
Text you intentionally send to RewindNote from another app is used to create a local note. RewindNote does not add note titles, note bodies, checklist content, backup names, or search queries to advertising requests.
2. Backup files
You can export a .rewindnote backup to a location you select with Android's system file picker. You can also select a backup to validate and preview before RewindNote safely merges its records.
A .rewindnote file is a plaintext ZIP archive containing readable JSON Lines data. SHA-256 checksums help detect corruption; they do not hide note content. Anyone with access to the file may be able to read the notes inside it.
RewindNote does not automatically upload backups. If you choose a cloud-backed or third-party storage provider in the file picker, that provider's terms and privacy practices apply. Exported copies must be deleted separately from the place where you saved them.
3. App lock and device authentication
The optional app lock asks Android to authenticate you with a device-supported method. RewindNote receives the success or failure result and does not receive or store biometric templates.
The app lock limits access to RewindNote's screens. It is not encryption at rest, and RewindNote does not encrypt its local database.
4. Advertising and consent
RewindNote uses Google Mobile Ads to show ads in the note library and Google's User Messaging Platform to request and manage privacy choices where required. Ads are not placed inside the note editor while you write. A restricted app-open ad may be eligible only after the third session, after a background return, and at least four hours after the previous presentation attempt; it is blocked on editor, history, settings, backup, and app-lock screens.
Google states that the Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share IP address information used to estimate general location, app and ad interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account-related identifiers such as the Android advertising ID or app set ID when available. Google describes these data as used for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention and protected in transit.
Processing may vary by region, device settings, consent choices, ad configuration, and SDK version. Available advertising privacy choices can be reopened from RewindNote Settings.
5. Permissions and Android features
- Device authentication: used only for the optional screen access lock.
- Internet and advertising identifiers: used by Google services for consent, ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.
- System file picker: used only when you choose to import or export a backup; RewindNote does not request broad access to all files.
- Incoming text sharing: lets you explicitly send plain text from another app into a new local note.
- Home-screen widget: opens directly into a new note.
6. Retention and deletion
Local notes remain until you delete them, clear RewindNote's app storage, or uninstall the app. Trash items can be restored during the 30-day retention window or permanently deleted from Trash. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes local app data according to Android behavior.
Uninstalling does not delete backup files you exported. Delete those files from their saved locations. RewindNote has no user accounts or first-party note server, so there is no remote account or server-side note record for Dev Jang to delete. Data processed independently by Google is governed by Google's policies and controls.
7. Security
RewindNote relies on Android's application sandbox for local app storage. Backup archives are checked for structure, record counts, references, and checksums before import. No software or storage method can guarantee absolute security. Do not treat the app lock as database encryption, and store plaintext backups only in locations you trust.
8. Children and international use
RewindNote is a general productivity app and is not specifically designed or directed to children. It does not request profiles or age information. The app may be offered globally, and advertising privacy choices may differ by region. Note content remains local unless you intentionally export or share it through a service you select.
9. Policy changes
This policy may change when the app, third-party SDKs, or applicable requirements change. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes will be communicated in the app or store listing when appropriate.
